Licorice is a plant from Southern Europe and some parts of Asia. Its root is rich in glycyrrhizin, a substance 30 to 50 times sweeter than saccharin. With a similar taste to anise, star anise and fennel.
Suggestions: use for flavouring candy desserts, snacks, pestos, tomatoes or eggs and together with soy sauces. It is often used in cocktails. Add to gin, vodka, anise and absinthe.
